Swinging into collision — John scares the neighbours

photo: because of the wide-angle 28mm lens, the view down the narrowboat looks impossibly long; at the tiller are three crew members, all in positions of crisis management — leaning over to see how close the back of the boat is to another boat, peering forth to see how close the front of the boat is to the next boat; behind and all around the boat are other narrowboats, moored neatly, and a swan.

Location: Diglis Basin, Worcester, Worcestershire.

Date: Sunday 28th June 1998.

Equipment: Canon EOS 50e using 28mm f/2.8 lens.

Emulsion: Fujifilm Superia 100.

Keywords: narrowboats, out of control, imminent collision.

Notes: this shot really can't describe the terrible momentum with which John was swinging the boat from one collision to another, but it might give you an idea of how crammed the basin was. Directly behind me was another line of boats, just waiting for John to greet them in his own juggernautical way.
