Inside Wast Hill Tunnel

photo: the front of the boat makes an out-of-focus appearance at the bottom centre of the image; the rest of the image is a motion-blurred shot of the tunnel, but it is clearly a tunnel; in the distance, small but bright, the tunnel exit shimmers.

Location: Wast Hill Tunnel, Worcester & Birmingham Canal.

Date: Friday 3rd July 1998.

Equipment: Canon EOS 50e using 28mm f/2.8 lens.

Emulsion: Fujifilm Superia 400.

Keywords: canal, narrowboat, tunnel, long exposure, slow shutter speed, motion blur, light at the end of the tunnel, daylight.

Notes: the ridiculous ten-second exposure time has led to a super-blurred tunnel walls effect. Which makes it look like the boat actually broke its 4mph speed barrier.
