Gushing water at a lock gate

photo: the bright red-and-blue front of the Canterbury sits below a dark mossy green lock gate; the central paddle is open and water gushes down from the central panel of the gate; the slow shutter speed of the camera has blurred the motion of the water, making the falling water look like a coat of white fur.

Location: Wolverley Lock on the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal.

Date: Tuesday 30th June 1998.

Equipment: Canon EOS 50e using 28mm f/2.8.

Emulsion: Kodak Gold 200.

Keywords: canal lock, lock gate, central paddle, narrowboat, gushing water, water surge.

Notes: the ominous central paddle effect again. This shot was a fairly slow exposure to get a funky silk-effect for the flowing water.
